Quick notes from the weekend

1. I got a haircut. I think it looks cute. Does that make me an egotist? A friend told me I look like a 1960s housewife with my haircut and dress. Wonder if that is a good thing.

2. We went to see the Apostles of Comedy on Friday. They were good. Jeff Allen was my favorite.Good, clean fun without se*ual innuendos and foul language. That was such a blessing.

3. We got a new living room floor. It is purty, if I may say so myself. Goodbye, dirty old carpet. You will not be missed.

4. We had some friends over on Saturday and we watched Wizard of Oz and ate popcorn and Chinese food. No cooking, no cleaning, just gorging on unhealthy food. Good times.

5. We bought a new futon for the den and replaced the sofa there. I have some organizing to do, after hubby assembles it. I do like organizing as opposed to cooking and cleaning. This dislike of cooking? I come by it honestly. I don't think Mama likes cooking very much either.

6. Hubby bought a new laptop which uses fingerprints for logging in. How fun is that? Even if it gets stolen, no one other than hubby or me can get in. I think. But I just love swiping my finger and logging in just for the fun of it.

7. It has been COLD here in Florida for the past few days and I do not like it. A relative called yesterday and invited us to visit them in Milwaukee for the New Year. Are you kidding me??? I am not stirring from here until June, thankyouverymuch.

8. Ater getting lost just about everywhere we go, we finally bought a GPS this Saturday.

9. We are replacing all the bathroom countertops with granite. It has been a painful process. I am not going to do any home improvement (capital projects that is) for another 10 years. It started with a small paint job in the bathroom and it has snowballed into this huge project involving wood floors, new bedroom carpet, granite and what not. Hopefully it will all be done by the middle of December. I will show pictures then.

10. We have guests coming this Thursday. 5 people. It is going to be an interesting time cooking. All of them are vegetarians (no egg even) and one guest will not even eat garlic and onion for religious reasons. I am flabbergasted. I might have to cook two of every dish. With and without oninos. I am not even sure Indian food tastes normal without onions and garlic. My MIL suggested that I let her cook for herself. I am thinking it might not be polite.

What are the notes from your weekend?

I don't blame you for wanting to stay put in FL til June. We had our first ice storm here yesterday. 1/4 inch of ice covered my car and the roads when I got off work. Snowstorm to hit this weekend. Not looking forward to it.
Good luck with the cooking thing for Thanksgiving!!!! Gosh, that has got to be hard to do with all those specialty requests....

You're not the only one with odd-food-preferences company coming this week. All of the ladies in our church were discussing this very topic on Sunday during break time.

The consensus was that you should cook what you planned to cook and just make sure there are items at each meal for the particular person. One of the ladies in our church has company that isn't eating meat, dairy, or wheat. That's harder than onions, I think. :)

But, I had to cook like you're thinking (two of each dish) in Ireland due to various individuals' health problems. It is more intimidating at the start than once you get into a groove.

But you probably won't have company long enough to get into a groove. :)

Elizabeth, she just does not eat onions and garlic. She doesn't eat meat, dairy, onions and garlic. And not much wheat either becasue she is from the part of India where they eat mainly rice. Maybe I can serve Indian flatbread with an onionless dish ONE time.

1. Yes, your hair is so cute!

2. Sounds fun! I love to laugh, too. :)

3. Yes, your floor is definitely purty. I love it! I just feel bad how dirty we got it when we came over (did we stain your blanket, too?)

4. You had {some friends = a small, mess-making, noisy crowd} over on Saturday and we watched Wizard of Oz and ate popcorn and Chinese food. Very yummy, indeed.

5. It's our fault that the futon is not assembled. But thanks for babysitting so I could get groceries. I also like organizing as opposed to cooking and cleaning. But my mom likes to cook.

6. Maybe I can get my laptop fixed soon. :) Yours sounds cool. Very techy!

7. So are you saying you'll come visit in June? :)

8. You can use it to find us!!!

9. Your bathroom will be so beautiful. Hang in there...the complete overhaul/renovation will someday be finished.

10. Thankfully noone seems to have food problems (except my picky kids!) But the total has ballooned to 16 now. What am I thinking??? I hope I can figure out how to cook a turkey. :)

Wow, that's quite a challenge to make dishes that involve no meat, dairy, onions, or garlic. Is that even possible?! ;-) (only kidding. kinda.)

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with liking your new haircut. Much better to think it looks cute than to hate it!
