Laundry Room Makeover

Our utility room/laundry room is the first room that most people (including us) see when they come in to the house. It is off the garage, so we park the car and get in that way into the kitchen. I spend a lot of time there as well especially since Neil was born. It was in bad shape, and I wanted to make it a bright pleasant place. This remodel was done a while ago, but I just happened to see the pictures now and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it looks.

Here are some before pictures.

This is what you saw as soon as you came in. Precious isn't it?

This was the view from the kitchen looking into the room. Also, part of the view coming in to the house.

This was the view looking out from the kitchen. I have to add that the shelves were originally not there. They were constructed later.

NOW for the AFTER pictures:

This is what you see when you come in from the garage.

Up close and personal

The floor. I PAINTED THE ACCENT WALL (to the right) AND THE WHITE DOOR. It was my first time painting and I was just excited. Sorry. Wont happen again. The rug is from Home Goods I think. I may be wrong, it has been a while.

Another look. I got the curtain from walmart to match the wall. I love the color burgundy. Just love it. It is a slightly "heavy" color, but I think it is perfect for accents. I also love white and the idea of a white laundry room with a touch of color really appealed to me. White = Clean, get it? The tile is white with the slightest hue of blue. The blue is barely even there.

I basically had a curtain hung to hide the heater. I did not want to put plywood and make it inaccessible. I thought a curtain would be a pretty solution. And the other unit, I had someone put in a door (again, for accessibility) and also, as the wood was rotting below, the whole bottom part was redone.

I love how it looks now and I actually like being there and doing the laundry.
