Gator: The First Meeting

Remember this? Well me neither! Anyway whenever Anne Marie writes about her cats, I feel I should write about Gator. Now who is Gator? Glad you asked. Allow me to explain.

If you think Gator is just a cat, that is where you would be completely wrong. He is more a force of nature, a power to be reckoned with and was probably the inspiration for Kipling's cat who walked by himself and to whom all places were the same.

The story of Gator needs to be told to the world. It was remiss of me not to have done it for a year, work and other obligations notwithstanding.

It was exactly an year ago to the day when it all started.

We had just purchased the new to us house and just like first time homeowners, on our first "visits" to our home before we started living there, there was always something we would think of improving. The first day we went there, there was Gator right at the doorstep. We walked towards the door, hoping he would get up and go. He did get up alright and when I opened the door, he coolly walked in. I just watched to see what he would do next. When he I saw that he was getting ready to settle in the foyer, I said shoo, scat, not your house etc. He just stretched and went to sleep.

He probably didn't think I was worth dignifying with a response.

I stepped out of the house wondering what to do and thankfully our neighbor was out there. I asked her about the cat, and she said. "Oh, he is ours. But he is such an alley cat. The previous owners had a cat and Gator always used to go there." So I learned that his name was Gator and that he had many feline sleepovers at our place. I also learned that for the next few days I was supposed to watch the door so that he will stop trying to get in every time we opened the door.

And that was our first encounter.

Stay tuned for Part 2.

I am SO behind on blog reading! This was great! I have no idea what I'd do if a neighbor's cat tried to walk into my house! We have our little back yard visitor, of course, but he hasn't tried to go inside. I think Calvin would tear him to shreds if he tried!

Gator sounds like a sweetie! He definitely has personality. Now I'm intrigued and can't wait for part 2!
