1. Last week, a dozen eggs cost $2.59 at Publix.
2. Kellog's cereal was $4 per package.
3. I went there to buy eggs.
4. There was a coupon for $1 off a cereal on the box itself and Publix was doing a BOGO (Buy one, get one free for the uninitiated).
5. PLUS, there was an offer on the store that you get ANY NUMBER OF EGGS, ANY BRAND FREE with two Kellogs cereal.
6. For those doing the math at home, I could either buy two 14 oz cereal boxes plus 12 eggs for $2.00+tax OR 12 eggs for $2.59+tax
7. I bought cereal+eggs
8. When I told about the deal to hubby, he said it is the classic example of "Men spend $2 for a $1 item they need and women spend $1 on a $2 item they don't need."
What would you have done? On the premise that you didn't have immediate need for cereal, but you are not averse to eating it on occassion.

Georgia.
Oh, definitely what you did.
I found eggs on clearance for 50cents/dozen yesterday and bought like 7 dozen (already had 2 dozen at home). We go through 2-3 dozen a week, so it wasn't that outlandish. I'll bake up the rest into gluten-free bread for postpartum life. :)
Eggs cost that much down there?!? Holy cow!!! That is EXPENSIVE!!! I pay about $1/dozen up here at the grocery store for eggs. And cereals are usually around $2.50 to $3.00 a box. Looks like I need to rebudget for my move to Florida!!
FPS, that is what you get for trading cows for the beach. LOL. That was the regular price. It does come on sale and there is always Walmart.
