What I have been up to

Where do I even start? I think I have to resort to a list.

1. I quit my job. Actually, let me rephrase. I don't have to go to the office anymore. The office comes to me. Or in other words, I work from home. I gave my notice and sent in my resignation. It is a long story, but to make it short, my boss requested that I work on just one project. For a few hours a week. It works out great for me. It pays for hiring a housekeeper. And the groceries. I don't like cleaning or mopping or vacuuming, but I do reasonably like what I do. So it works out great for me. I work it in during Neil's naptimes or in the night.

2. Although I don't have to clean, there is still a lot of everyday details that I have to take care at home, so it is not like I get to play with the baby all the time.

3. I FINALLY got a china cabinet. It is really amazing. It has mirror back, is in great condition and has glass shelves. I LOVE it. We actually got a matching dining set also. I sold our existing dining table and chairs and the new one is so much bigger and better.

4. It is all disassembled and in disarray right now, but one day (soon) we will have it all figured out.

5. I am enjoying motherhood for the most part. I used to think the hardest part would be cleaning dirty diapers. hahahaha. Needless to say, I have crossed that barrier. Especially after starting solids, diaper duty has gone to a whole new level. Neil is now pretty "hands on" and also loves to put EVERYTHING into his mouth, so you do the math.

6. The part that is most tiring about being a SAHM is keeping him entertained. We have an exersaucer, swing, bumbo, multiple assorted small toys. But he gets tired of everything so soon. It has been too cold to go for walks, so being stuck at home it was difficult keeping him entertained. With the warmer weather I hope to be out more and tire him out so he will go to sleep. If you have any ideas on how to keep a 6 month old entertained, please let me know.

7. One blessing is that he loves to sit in his stroller (it is a carriage type handed down from my SIL) in the kitchen and watch me cook and putter around with pots and pans. He talks and spits and laughs and I sing to him and we generally have a good time. So we have really good lunches, I am handwashing dishes, and he is entertained for the afternoon. It is a win all around.

8. He eats really well and I am thankful. My pediatrician says to give him as much as he will eat and I am not very confident to do that. The boy can wolf down food and I am not sure if I let him lead that it might lead to stomach pains. He drinks formula and also nurses 2-3 times a day.

9. My list is quite Neil-y, I apologize. But looking after him is what I do all day, so I guess that is what I have most to talk about.

10. I am so tired out by the EOD that I have hardly any energy to do other stuff. There are a lot of things that I need to be doing like figuring out our India trip, getting Neil's passport, applying for our exit document, taxes etc. I was supposed to work on one of those during this nap time, but instead I blogged.

Oh well.

No apologies for your posts being Neil-centric. Um, have you noticed that my blog features my cats way too much? I'm home; they're home. That's life.

Yea on being a SAHM now! I'm so happy for you!

Does Neil like books? One of my nieces could sit in my lap for a really long time looking at the pictures as I read baby books to her. She loves to read now as a 12-year-old. The others liked being read to, also, but not quite as much as she did.

Yeah for housekeepers!! :)
And that is really great of your boss working that project out so you can work at home just a few hours a week. :)
