Our weekend was a mixed bag. Saturday started out very nice. The weather was glorious and the three of us spread a picnic blanket in the backyard and just lay there. As in R and I lay there and Neil just ran around. We plucked a lemon from the tree and threw it around for Neil to fetch. He would run after it, and bring it to us for approval. We would say good boy and that would make his day. Just like a puppy. Except that he is cuter and we will have to send him to college. I was loading the dishwasher when R asked me to come and join him on the blanket. I was about to say I had work to do, but then I realized that the dirty dishes will always be there. I left it and enjoyed the day. I am so glad I did. It was one of the simple pleasures of life and we loved it.
After all the running around, Neil got tired and had lunch and went to sleep with no complaint. Saturdays are his favorite days as he gets attention from both of us. I also went to take a nap while R set up our new internet. I have no recollection of what we did Saturday evening. Isn't that weird?
We had not one, but two birthday parties on Sunday after church. There was one right after chuch where a friend was turning 50 and it was from 2-4. Neil went to sleep at 1:30, so I left him with R and I went by myself. When I came back, he was already up, and we got ready to go for the next one. Unfortunately, R had two call conflicts and could not make it to this one either. This was for a sweet 5 year old. We call him Neil's older brother because when I happened to see his baby pictures, it was just like Neil's. Neither of the parents look like either of us, but the kids have very good similarities. Isn't that funny?
There was a super bowl party at the house at the same time and so there was a bunch of people. Neil was running around like a dog with his tail on fire and I was chasing him the entire time. It is hard to go anywhere with him by myself. He wanted to play with the big boys on the stairs. Nice. We left around 9pm and by that time, I was exhausted. I almost fell asleep at the wheel on the drive back.
I somehow dragged myself to bed and that was the end of our weekend.
