It has been a week since Buddy came into our lives. And what a week it was! I pretty much went through a roller coaster of emotions- ranging from joy to anger to sadness to the one that reared it's ugly head quite a few times-frustration. We got him last Saturday and I was ready to give up by Tuesday. The house was smelling, he was "relieving" himself inside the house, and he ate up a lot of our time. We had to get up early in the morning so that he will be on a schedule, and then he needs a lot of play time. On top of that, R got sick. That was the icing on the cake.
Buddy by nature, likes to have to do something all time. R works out of home, but Buddy does not get that concept.
Yet.
But we think he will. He is after all a smart dog.
He does not understand why he cannot play with him from sunup to sundown. He jumps up and gets so excited when I get home from work. R thinks Buddy likes me more than he does him. Well, it is a possibility since I get him his puppy chow and chew toys. Its puppy love, y'all.
I am not someone who loves change. If things are going well, I like status quo. I felt my world out of control after his arrival. Things were definitely not easy. It still is not. Buddy still "does his business" inside the house sometimes. In spite of all the Febreze, there is that dog smell lingering. R is not completely okay yet. And there is a ton of work to be still done in the house.
But I am okay. I know that at times, I need to pull myself together. Life is too short to let yourself wallow in self pity and go into pieces like that. Tiredness at most times is a mental and emotional thing than physical. Circumstances might not change, but you can. The best antidote to frustration and tiredness is get up and do some work.
Buddy taught me all that.
In two days.
I already told you he is a smart dog.

I'm glad you're handling it! Maybe Buddy will become less playful as he grows... and maybe he will remain a bundle of energy. Good luck! :)
By the way, seeing a picture of Buddy would be really neat!
