Now I have come to this

Well, guess what people? We got a DOG! Yes, you heard me right. Those of you who have read this (Part II) will be surprised at this announcement. Well, I am an example of what people will do for love. GAH. R loves dogs-he would sometimes act like a little lost puppy himself when he saw other people with dogs. He had a dog when he was a kid and pretty much he loves all animals. So since his birthday was coming up, I thought what better way to express my love than to give the gift that keeps on giving. Granted it is just poop and pee now, but hopefully loyalty and affection in the days to come.

I told him earlier that I would get him a dog and we have been researching earlier for dogs we could adopt. Nothing worked out and he was we were disappointed. Like everything else in our life, it took a back seat for the time being. With his birthday fast approaching, I researched online, found a puppy and took him there as a surprise. He had no idea where we were going. I told him we were going to the mall (Petco was in a mall) to get something for the house. He was pretty blasé about it since he thought it was one of those knick knacks I have been buying for the house these days. My efforts to keep the surprise were well rewarded with a smile that lit Sanford when he found out we were going to get a dog. I am not kidding when I say that he could not stop grinning from ear to ear.

We went inside and saw him. He totally fell in love with him and after getting him a grooming and buying $300 worth of stuff for him, we got out of the store with a fat dog and thin wallet. R was rolling the cart and I was holding him. He put all the stuff in the trunk and shut the door. But the car started beeping since the alarm system got activated as R had forgotten to unlock the car first. The dog got terrified and scratched me at three places. (unintentionally of course) Well, I still did not drop him for which R praised me. Then we drove home- the three of us.

More later!

Hi Annie,

Thank you for your comment. It was very strange b/c I looked at your blog after a comment you left on Anna's blog earlier today and I thought" Wow, somebody else on these blogs with a career" I was going to leave you a message but I had to get on a conference call and I forgot. I know that I just rambled there but I thought that it was a wonderful coincidence.

So back to the feminist issue. I am so happy that you agree with me. I love reading the blogs such as Crystal’s but I get tired of constantly hearing that Bible says that my only role and purpose is to be at home serving my husband. I just don't beleive that God has here for only one reason. If that was plan for women then why tell the stories of Esther, Mary, Martha, Ruth and others in the Bible. Also the Proverbs 31 women wouldn't have been shown doing so many roles. It would have simply said, "She kept a nice home, honored her husband and raised her children well". It is about our hearts not our professions or our daily tasks. I tend to get really fired up about this issue and I keep thinking that I will write about on my blog.

Anyway, it was great to meet you and I look forward to further discussions with you!

Kyla

PS: What kind of puppy did you get?

Hi Kyla,

I like these blogs too for I do agree with a lot they have to say I got very excited to see your comment since I haven't seen many blogs of Christian women who are shall I say "moderate"- who love Christ but have professional life as well. I had some food for thought from that quiz and I wrote a post (too long though!!!) on that which I will post tomorrow.

Oh and our pup is Australian Sheperd/Border Collie Mix and he is ADORABLE. I will write more about him later as well.

Congratulations! Ahh, I'm sure you're going to have so much fun with your new dog :) Your life is going to change! :P

PS: This is off-topic but since I read Kyla's comment, I think I should say that even though my goal is to become a homemaker, I don't think EVERY woman who works outside the home has work as her top priority, ahead of her husband and children. If we look at the Proverbs 31 woman - indeed, it isn't like she never set foot outside her home. But she was definitely home-focused and family-focused. I have been wanting to write about this for a while and I think I'm going to do that soon.
