The weekend

Our Saturday was zzzzzzzzz inducing for the most part. R goes to play ping pong on Saturdays for 3 hours while I watch the baby. The only difference from normal this Saturday was that we had the final concert in the series for the Philharmonic Orchestra for which we had tickets. We left Neil with a sweet friend from church. I really could not enjoy the concert at all since I kept wondering how he was doing. And truth be told, it wasn't great. They had some thing going on with crystal bowls and it felt gimmicky.

Neil put up a fight before going to sleep and cried, but eventually he slept and was sleeping peacefully when we got back. By evening, R was starting to get allergies from the pollen and by the time we got back, he was in really bad shape. Unfortunately, so was Neil. Both of them were sniffling and sneezing most of the night. R at least had claritin, but my poor baby was suffering so much. I was up most of the night with him. I was exhausted in the morning and R woke up only at 10 am. We had planned to go to another church (which we go to once a month), but it was too late to make that drive. We decided to go to our regular one. That ended up being a great decision.

We were at church and I was feeding Neil his bottle. He seemed a little sleepy and I put him in the stroller to sleep. I was hoping to stay in and listen to the message while pushing the stroller. While he was in the stroller, he suddenly started choking. I immediately took him out and held him close to me. He vomited all over me. There was so much that even my underclothes got soaked. Everything I fed him had come out. Poor baby. Since I was so drenched I could not sit there any longer. We all had to leave home immediately. I could not sit in the car even so I took off my dress and covered myself with a big blanket. I was hoping that I would not get cited for immodesty or something. Technically I was wearing the equivalent of a two piece swimsuit. And I was covered for the most part with a blanket. Plus it was a short ride home. Who knew being a mom would involve a car ride in underclothes? They never tell you this in baby books. I hope this was the first and the last.

We went out for lunch and as usual Neil was flirting with all the ladies. I have to have a talk with him soon. Since he was the center of attention, he was in a good mood and let us eat in peace. But maybe his allergies were bothering him, when we got home, he refused to nap all afternoon. I was so tired from the night before that R took care of him while I took a two hour nap. It felt soooooooo good.

So that was pretty much our weekend. How was yours?

Sounds like a good case for carrying a junky pair of clothes in the trunk of your car. I used to do that in college because I was gone for 12-14 hours a day. They were really junky looking, but at least you're covered if disaster strikes. (It never did, but then perhaps my day will come. May it come when I have a change of clothes in the car!)
